"Bakurai!"
(That's Japanese for "Depth Charge!")
Artist: JOHN MEEKS
Original picture is oil on canvas measuring approx 14” x 11"
Limited Edition of 100 signed and numbered digital prints measuring 11" x 8.5"
Subject: Inside the forward torpedo room of a Japanese I-Boat during depth charge attack.

A word from the artist...

The artist writes:

This is the business end of a Japanese I-Boat.
And under the circumstances .... you wouldn't want to be there !

It doesn't matter which man's Navy you're in - this is never very nice.
Just imagine sitting in a locked garbage can, and have somebody (who loathes you...) whack on it with a huge sledgehammer.....sometimes for hours. He's not going to be happy until you are .... well, you know what I mean.

This little painting is part of my grimmer, darker side. Trying to illustrate that there is nothing pretty, glamorous or attractive about
warfare.

Each of these guys has a mother.

Let's just allow the image to speak for itself, and salute all those guys - whoever they served - who had to endure this nonsense ... sometimes for
several years of their young lives ... and sometimes ....only once..........

Above shows one of Meek's stunning limited edition prints complete with titles in both English and Japanese.
The original oil painting has no accompanying text.
