A note from the artist:

The two-man Seehund (Seal) carried two torpedoes and used its small size and speed to evade detection. Although developed by the German Navy late in world war two, the 15-ton, 39-foot long midget submarines still managed to sink more than 120,000 tons of allied shipping.
