The story behind the painting...

At 0027 hours on 14 October 1939, U-boat Ace Gunther Prien slipped his U-47 into Scapa Flow Harbour which, the British Admiralty had deemed impregnable to an attack by sea. A myriad of entrance barriers including nets defied entry, but Prien picked it clean; and sunk their great battleship, Royal Oak, at 0133 hours and was quickly out ot the harbour undetected. A true wizard who was awarded his country's Knight's Cross.

Included with this purchase is a framable beautifully printed history of U47's mission on parchment as well as a script of authentication of the print signed by the artist.
