A word from the artist: (written November 2006) I have painted this painting to remember Erich Topp, unfortunately he died almost one year ago. It shows his U552 on a war patrol in the Atlantic waves. On studying the conning tower in detail it is possible to recognize Erich Topp himself standing there.
