The story behind the painting...

Original painting was presented to the U. S. Navy at commissioning and now hangs in San Juan's wardroom.  

San Juan was built by General Dynamics Corporation, Electric Boat Division, Groton,  CT and was commissioned on 6 August 1988 and is homported at Groton, CT.  

San Juan participated in "Iraqi Freedom".  

The artist William H. RaVell III, Chief Warrant Officer, U. S. Coast Guard (Ret). Mr. RaVell was a Senior Electrical Planner at General Dynamics and was commissioned to paint portraits of several 688 Class and Trident submarines and their namesake vessels.  

Unfortunately no prints have ever been made of this artwork.
