The story behind the painting...

This painting of USS Topeka SSN754, Los Angeles Class submarine, was presented to the US Navy at the commissioning of the submarine on October 21 1989.  It now hangs in Topeka's wardroom.  

Topeka was built at General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division and is Homeported in Pearl Harbor, HI. 

Topeka's motto is:

 "Defender of the Heartland". 

The artist, William H. RaVell III, knew the boat well as he was a Senior Electrical Planner at General Dynamics.

Unfortunately no prints have ever been made of this artwork.
